Tips to Make the Most of Sunny Windows

Windows that bring in copious amounts of sunlight help brighten your living spaces and set the mood for the entire home. While it’s good to have plenty of them installed, deciding how to make the most of them can be quite the challenge. Fortunately, you can use your sun-filled windows in many ways, including the following:

Temper the Brightness

Sunny windows are great additions to any home, but their function happens to be a drawback as well. It may not be possible to do your usual routine at home without squinting or shading your eyes with these. Consider toning down on the brightness of your windows with window treatments, such as thin and translucent curtains of a neutral shade.

Create a Breakfast Nook

An empty corner with a sunny window installed nearby can be transformed into a usable space. Place a small round table and a pair of chairs, and you have yourself a nook where you can start your mornings. Having a cup of coffee or a bite to eat while sitting near the bright window that frames a beautiful outdoor view is a sure way to boost your mood and get you energized for the rest of the day.

Match Windows With Dark Elements

Another way to minimize the brightness coming out of your sunny windows is to match them with any dark interior element. A stark black wall, for instance, creates a seemingly minimalist effect, but its deep black tones can help tone down the bold sunlight. Doors and other furnishings of a darker shade should also work to minimize the white or light-colored décor around the living space.

Display Greens

Many of us have been into indoor planting as a hobby since last year. With its popularity comes the opportunity for plant lovers to display their hanging and potted greenery by sunny windows. Highlighting them against the background of the window glass makes for a beautiful greenhouse-like visual.
