The Best Windows for Each Room

Different parts of your home, from the bedroom to the kitchen, require different windows. Each place must factor in the light and function. You don’t want to wake up in your bed with the light shining directly on your face. With the right  replacement windows, you can have decent lighting, reduced heat transfer and a better-looking home.

The Living Room

Take a careful look outdoors. Your living room is the centerpiece of your entire home, a place to relax and enjoy the view. During the day, you’ll need lots of natural light to show it off. We recommend using bay and bow windows for this room.

Bow windows are narrower, using up to eight panes to curve out. Bay windows are wider, using up to four. Both jut out of your home, making it stand out from both the exterior and interior.

The Kitchen

When placing windows in the kitchen, you should take the room’s hardware into consideration. Most often, homeowners will request the window company to have their windows by the sink. In this case, you’ll need a window that gives you a good breeze and decent lighting. The best option for this is a casement window. It’s easy to open, has enough leverage to control the breeze and is regarded as the most energy-efficient window.

The Bedroom

Ventilation is more important in a bedroom. Sure, waking up to the morning light is nice, but you’ll need to feel comfortable throughout the day. The last thing you want is to wake up sweating due to a hot room. While casement windows can work here, we also recommend double hung windows. They can let in cool air if you open the upper and lower sashes.

The Bathroom

In a bathroom, privacy is top priority, but operable windows are still a good choice since you’ll need some form of ventilation. If you are looking for a good window, try a transom for natural light.

If you are planning to install a double hung or casement window, we can help. As a window contractor, we offer specialized privacy glass for our bathroom windows.
