Tips on Spring-Cleaning Your Windows

As we bid goodbye to the winter season, you’re probably getting yourself ready for spring cleaning. That said, make sure your windows receive enough care and attention, too. Deep clean them so that you can see clearly through the glass and fully appreciate springtime. Window cleaning is also crucial to maintaining the efficiency of your windows, so it’s important to include this task in your to-do list.

Generally, it’s best to hire professionals for the job. But to give you an idea of how to spring-clean your windows properly, remember these tips from trusted window contractor, Renewal by Andersen® of Wyoming.

1. Wash your windows with soapy water. Open your windows, and take out the window screens so that you can wash them thoroughly. Use soapy water to get rid of the dirt that has settled on the surfaces.

2. Clean both sides of your windows. As much as possible, wash the window glass on both sides. You can opt for a glass cleaner that you can buy in the market, or you can use water and white vinegar to create your own cleaning solution. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water, and place the mixture in a spray bottle.

3. Use a squeegee or microfiber cloth for wiping. These tools are ideal for wiping the glass dry since they leave no streaks, lint or any marks. Apart from the window glass, make sure to wipe down the window sills and frames as well.

4. Vacuum the window tracks. If your vacuum has an attachment for small or localized areas, you can use that to clean your window tracks. Otherwise, you can create a makeshift attachment using a paper towel tube. Afterward, clean the tracks with a detail brush.
