Should I Get a Single- or Double-Sliding Window?

Replacement windows come in various styles, designs and materials. Among the most popular choices are single- and double-sliding windows. If you need help choosing between these two types of slider windows, the tips below would help you make a decision.

Why Choose Single-Sliding Windows

One of the biggest advantages of single-sliding windows is that they can improve airflow in small spaces and tricky areas. These windows are also easy to clean and require minimal upkeep, making them an even more attractive option, especially for busy homeowners.

Take note that this type of sliding window has only one panel that slides; the other panel is stationary. You can choose to have the sliding panel move to the right or to the left depending on where the window is going to be installed.

Typically, single sliders are recommended for spaces with a smaller width.

Why Choose Double-Sliding Windows

Double-sliding windows are a great option for larger spaces that need better airflow. These windows are designed with two movable sashes, so they can offer maximum airflow and control over ventilation. Cleaning and maintaining double-sliders are also easy. You don’t need to exert a lot of effort to pop out the sashes.

Both single- and double-sliding windows are excellent choices. However, depending on your needs and the design of your home, one could be a better option than the other. If you need more advice on which type of sliding window to get, you can ask your contractor to weigh in and help you make a decision.
